Safeguarding at Ability Care

At Ability Care, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do.

We are committed to protecting the adults we support from abuse, neglect, harm and exploitation. Every person has the right to feel safe, respected, listened to and supported to live as independently as possible.

Our staff are trained to recognise safeguarding concerns and to take appropriate action quickly and sensitively. We work closely with individuals, families, carers, health professionals, local authorities and other agencies to help ensure the safety and wellbeing of the people who use our services.

Our approach to safeguarding

We aim to create a safe, supportive and person-centred environment across all of our services, including day services, respite care, supported living and community support.

We do this by:

• Listening to the people we support and taking concerns seriously

• Promoting dignity, respect, choice and independence

• Ensuring staff receive appropriate safeguarding training

• Following clear safeguarding policies and procedures

• Reporting and responding to concerns promptly

• Working with external professionals and safeguarding teams when required
